Sitting Pretty opened in Galgate on 4th May 2013. After completing five weeks of refurbishment to The Green Dragon Hotel, the vintage tea room and gift shop opened to the public with a weekend full of family entertainment. In August Sitting Pretty closed its doors to the public again but this time it was to complete a full refurbishment of the building and have relaunched in January 2014!!
We welcome everyone to the tea room, young and old alike. There will soon be a dedicated children's area
with a play area for the little ones. We have an extensive range of teas available, from the delicious Russian Earl Grey through to children's tea - Fairy Princess Tea or Teddy Bears Choice Tea, which are caffeine free and a great, sugar free alternative to normal juice and squash. With over 30 different teas available which change seasonally, we have something for everyone's taste buds. If tea is not your thing, our trained staff will serve you a coffee of your choice from our coffee machine which was shipped in from Italy.
Cold drinks on our menu include milkshakes, ice cream floats and vintage bottled soft drinks. We have some fantastic suppliers for our bottled drinks - have you ever tried Apple Cola?
We have a lovely food menu which changes seasonally too. With simple, yet delicious soups through to beef stroganoff or vegetable tagine, all our meals are cooked fresh on the premises.
have an ever changing selection of cakes which are made daily. We aim to provide something for everyone, we have a range of gluten free cakes on our menu as well as nut free and dairy free cakes available for order and to purchase. It is sometimes best to check with us what specialty cakes we have on before coming down to visit. We are also happy to make cakes to order for special occasions too.
Sitting Pretty Vintage Tea Room is owned by Vicky, a mother and blogger and food writer who lives on site of the tea room. Since she was a tot, Vicky grew up around soft furnishings and design. Her father had his own soft furnishings business many years ago before he passed away - the name Sitting Pretty is taken from that business in memory of her father. Though incarnated in a different aspect, Sitting Pretty still holds the values which the original business was passionate about - providing excellent service to the customers and something which is unique and memorable. Vicky is sure that you will agree that Sitting Pretty Vintage Tea Room offers just that.
