Sitting Pretty is a multi-functional venue situated just south of Lancaster, on the main A6, just one mile from Junction 33 of the M6 and one mile from Lancaster University Campus. We are open five days as week but are also available for private hire events, functions and community groups.
On Wednesdays and Thursdays we are closed but the tea room space is available for large and small groups who wish to use the venue. Be it a one to one meeting with a prospective client, a networking meeting with a large group or even for a community group or project - we are here to help you. Venue hire is free, we just ask that you buy your refreshments from us for the duration of your meeting. We are happy to provide catering options, either from our main menu or specialty menus if required.
Sitting Pretty is also available for hire for events such as private parties, birthday parties, product launches, art exhibitions and more. Please get in touch to discuss your requirements and let us know how we can help make your event amazing.
Children's Birthday Parties
Our birthday parties offer the chance for children to get creative by express themselves through making beautiful cake creations or crafts which they can take home with them and enjoy.
Our parties are suitable for children (and adults, too) of all ages. Both boys and girls can get creative with fondants, butter creams and a whole assortment of toppings to make their cakes special or kids can get creative with things from our Craft Room, making and sticking things to their hearts content. We can help children with their creations by showing them how to make something special out of fondant and turn their cakes into pirates, princesses, monsters or just letting their imagination run wild. Our parties are structured so the children will learn how to make something special to take home with them.
All our birthday party packages include food and drinks for the party guests which can be tailored to your specification and budget, we offer hot buffet, hot meal or cold buffet options. We also have additional extras to add on to your party like designing your own Birthday Cake, balloons, glitter tattoos, nail art and more. Please do not hesitate to come in and talk to us about your requirements. Parties run for approx 90 minutes.
Each child gets to decorate 4 cupcakes which they take home with them in a box. They would have use of icing bags to pipe butter cream, fondant icing in different colours and plenty of toppings too. If the party is themed, I will teach the group how to make a special cupcake along that theme, be it a fairy cupcake, ice cream cupcakes, pirates, moshi monsters and more! The box would be tied up with a balloon and labeled with the child's name on to take away. They will have 1 hour to decorate the cupcakes and then half an hour for food, drinks and the birthday cake.
The cost per head is £8.50, with a minimum of 6 - maximum of 12 children for a cupcake party. You can add on an extra half an hour to make the party 2 hours long for £9.00 per head. This price includes a simple birthday buffet of sandwiches, crisps, cookies, fresh fruit and juice.
The venue is also available for parties without the cupcake options, we have space for party games and can source entertainers and hold themed events with decorations if required.
Parties for the Grown Ups
We are available to hire for adult themed parties as well, what a better way to start your hen night or birthday by making some cuptails - cocktail cupcakes!
